HTC Sends Out Discount Email to those Purchasing the M9

Several customers who ordered the M9 directly from HTC on Friday 3/27 have received an email informing them that their device ship date has been delayed. Our own Max Lee and Shane Starnes received this email just yesterday. To make up for their shortcoming, HTC has offered these customers a 25% off any accessory coupon for the HTC online store, and provided a lovely link to accessories for the M9. Initially many sites reported that the discount only went to those that had their shipment delayed, but I received my M9 from HTC yesterday and still received the email and coupon. In case you missed it yesterday, go check out my unboxing of the M9 developer edition in silver with gold trim.

HTC mentioned that some of the shipping delays will see devices shipping April 4 to April 7, not exactly what early buyers had in mind when purchasing the phone last Friday. Ironically, even though HTC offered this 25% off coupon for accessories, all of the M9 dot-view cases are currently out of stock on HTC’s website. Seems to me that HTC has really botched this launch, something they can ill afford with competition from Samsung’s S6, and the looming G4 announcement from LG on April 28. Hopefully those of you that ordered will get a shipping email soon, let us know in the comments if you have received your device from HTC. Look out for my review of the HTC M9 sometime next week on my Youtube Channel.

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
