Google Might Be Developing Full Line of Glass Products

According to some nice detective work by Business Insider, it appears Google might be working on a full family of Glass products. Google has posted some new job listings specifically for, “smart eyewear and other related products” on their website. At this point that could really mean anything, but it seems there will be more going on with Glass when the new consumer version launches. We already heard from Luxottica’s CEO that we can expect to see Glass 2 coming relatively soon. It would be nice to see Google integrate Glass with Android Wear devices, this is one possibility to the meaning behind “other related products.”

The Google ATAP team already mentioned that they will show off a new wearable at Google I/O this year, even going as far to say in their I/O description that the new wearable will literally “blow your socks off.” I am definitely excited to see what they unveil at I/O, and for the future of the wearables product category in general. Many consumers still don’t feel a need for smartwatches and other wearables, but big manufacturers continue to produce more products within the category every year. I hope that through releasing more products, the category is eventually refined enough that wearables gain mass appeal like smartphones. Anyone else interested in seeing new wearables from Google?

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
