Nest is preparing to hold their first media event since being acquired by Google about a year ago. Today the Nest team sent invites to members of the media for a June 17th event. The invite itself doesn’t really give away much, but it seems reasonable that we will see the first product(s) from the Google version of Nest.
Nest currently offers a smart thermostat and smoke detector and has led the way in the Internet of Things movement for the past few years. Some rumors suggest that Nest might announce an audio product or a smart-assistant device like the Amazon Echo. It is also very possible that they will just update their current devices with a new killer feature developed under the stewardship of the Google machine.
I would personally love to see a Nest version of Amazon Echo with Google Now integration. My main issue with most 3rd party voice assistants is that they do not integrate with all the Google services I use in my everyday life. Google Now on my coffee table is something I’m definitely interested in, especially with some added features for shopping and other couch-related tasks.
What does everyone predict for Nest’s big announcement? Will we see new products at all? Maybe just a new killer feature? Let me know in the comments or follow me on Twitter (@jspring86az) and hit me with your thoughts!
