Two of the best cell phone cameras ever have graced the market in the LG G4 and Galaxy S6. These cameras are pretty much neck and neck when it comes to overall quality. Of course it all boils down to personal preference as images coming from each camera stand out on their own. The Samsung camera delivers sharp, colorful, saturated pictures while the G4 camera offers crisp, more natural colors, with an emphasis on low light performance. LG and Samsung have been the leaders in camera quality for a few years now.
One manufacturer that generally leaves much to be desired when it comes to camera quality is Motorola. The cameras on the Moto X from 2013 and 2014 were lack luster at best. The Nexus 6 camera even has its struggles. It is really a shame since Motorola hardware is pretty awesome in every other way. They also make one of the most durable phones, and their cellular radios have always been the best.
Motorola CMO Adriene Hayes says the company is working hard to get the camera issues fixed this year. His statement, “We know we need to improve here and are definitely going to ‘bring it.’”. In the past Motorola has attempted to solve the poor camera quality by releasing software updates, and camera app updates, but now they are looking to really improve things. If the Moto X can compete with the likes of Samsung and LG in the camera department this may be a must have device!
