Verizon Moto X (2014) getting Android 5.1 Soak test

Last week we heard some rumblings of a Verizon soak test beginning for a preview of new software on the Moto X (2014). The test was supposed to begin last week, but actually started rolling out to testers earlier today. The update contains Android 5.1 version 23.16.3, and checks in at a whopping 500 MB.

From reports around the net, it seems some testers already got the update and have reported overall smoothness after installing. Some have reported that VoLTE is missing from the update, a feature many users were hoping to see in the later builds of Lollipop for this Moto X. Hopefully Verizon can enable the VoLTE feature through a subsequent update, or even include it in the final OTA of this 5.1 version.

As soon as testing is completed, Motorola and Verizon should begin rolling out the OTA to everyone, we’ll keep you posted so that you can grab the goods for your device!

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
