Blackberry “Venice” Render Leaked

Yesterday I posted a story on the Blackberry Android slider that is apparently heading to AT&T. After all of the news yesterday surrounding the device, @evleaks has now added a render of the device to his Twitter post. The device actually looks…pretty damn nice. The picture shows off some rounded edges and an apparent metal frame. It looks like we will also see front-facing speakers which always means better sound quality when watching videos or listening to your favorite tunes. The render also shows Google apps onboard, meaning Blackberry worked with Google to pass the Compatibility Test Suite.

One thing I’m still not sold on is the inclusion of a physical keyboard on a device in 2015. Blackberry has had great success with their physical keyboards, but there are numerous great third-party on-screen keyboards for Android. The question is whether Android users can be swayed from their Samsung, LG, and Nexus devices to give Blackberry a try. The device is definitely good-looking, I can admit that, but only time will tell how well it is received by the average user. I imagine Blackberry can do well with enterprise customers that are interested in staying with Android, but I have doubts about their average consumer appeal.

What does everyone think of the render? Does the device look sexy enough for you to give it a go? Let me know in the comments below!

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
