OnePlus 2 will cost less than $450 (Yawn)

OnePlus is continuing their long and painful process of teasing out specs for their upcoming OnePlus 2 flagship. The phone is set to be unveiled in exactly three weeks on July 27. You can watch the unveiling in Virtual Reality if you have some form cardboard or other VR apparatus. OnePlus actually gave away their own version of  cardboard for the cost of shipping (these are now sadly sold out). We already know the OnePlus 2 will feature a Snapdragon 810, USB Type-C, and a fingerprint scanner. We also found out last week that the OnePlus 2 will come in three models, presumably denoting storage sizes.

Today CEO Pete Lau took to the OnePlus Google+ page to let fans know that he can “Promise the OnePlus 2 will be priced under $450.” Whenever someone makes a statement like this we all jump to thinking that the phone will be priced at $449.99, but I think OnePlus is a little more clever than that. If you promise a price below $450 and deliver one cent below, people will be disappointed. I can imagine the phone will probably check in around $399 for the base model, which should make most people happy. Now, if only OnePlus would stop talking and show us some damn hardware!

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
