Huawei Watch drops by FCC, coming soon?

Many people have forgotten that Huawei is developing their own Android Wear watch. Originally announced back on March 1, the Huawei Watch is a sexy-looking round smartwatch that gives the Moto 360 a run for its money in the sleekness category. The device was originally expected to launch in September or October of this year, hence the reason people forgot it existed (6 months between announcement and release is kinda a long time Huawei!). Droid Life found a tidbit from the FCC over the weekend that shows the Huawei Watch very clearly in the certification report.

The FCC label doesn’t really reveal any new specs, the watch still features a 300 mAh battery, pretty standard for most Android Wear devices. What is interesting is the fact that the device is not disguised in anyway, clearly Huawei doesn’t care if we know the device went through FCC certification. Perhaps this hints that the device will be ready for a release earlier than the September timeframe. I’m currently loving my LG Watch Urbane, but I am excited about new wearables releasing in the second half of 2015. Smartwatches are a fairly new category, hence  there is huge potential for big leaps in product development; an area where phone hardware has recently slowed down. Who currently has an Android Wear watch on their wrist? Anyone planning to grab one before the end of 2015?

We will definitely keep you posted on any new Huawei Watch and general Android Wear developments!

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
