Moto G rumored to launch July 28

We’ve heard a lot lately about Motorola’s upcoming Moto X and Moto G smartphones. Several rumors already point toward Motorola expanding Moto Maker availability to the Moto G. Moto Maker has previously been reserved only for the flagship Moto X. A new report today out of Brazil states that the Moto G will also feature IPx7 water resistance certification. In addition, the report claims that Motorola has pegged July 28 as the official release date for the Moto G. The Moto X will most-likely be announced at or around the same time.

Brazilian site Tecmundo reports that the phone will launch at a price of BRL899, which equates to about $286 USD. The higher price is likely due to import duties in Brazil; we expect the US price to be similar to the current generation Moto G. The current rumored specs list includes a 5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 SoC and Adreno 306 GPU, twp models with 1GB RAM/8GB storage and 2GB RAM/16GB storage, microSD card slot, 13MP camera at the back, 5MP front shooter and a 2,470mAh battery. It is good to see a 2GB variant and expandable storage. I don’t think an 8GB variant makes sense in 2015, even for a budget phone, but at least you can add a microSD card.

Anyone interested in the Moto G? Looks like we won’t be waiting long…August looks like a busy month for all of us here at HOA!

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
