Microsoft’s Cortana leaks for Android

Awhile back we heard that Microsoft planned to offer a version of their virtual assistant Cortana for Android users. Earlier today a leaked beta of the Cortana for Android became available. Apparently the leaked version of the beta came from a member of Microsoft’s Windows Insider program. Cortana is very similar to Siri and Google Voice Search, but it does have some nice customization options that help you get content that is relevant to you.

After the private beta leaked this morning, Microsoft issued a statement that the public beta of Cortana for Android would be available in the next few weeks. This aligns pretty well with their initial estimate, the end of July. Microsoft’s official statement offered some insight on the private beta program:

In the spirit of the Windows Insider Program, we’re testing the Cortana for Android beta with a limited number of users in the U.S. and China before releasing the beta publicly in the next few weeks.

If you are interested in getting in on the private beta officially, you can head to this Microsoft discussion post and take a short survey. If sideloading is more of your style, hit the link below to grab the APK. I’ve been playing around with it on my M9, and it seems have a few bugs so far. Give us some feedback on how you think Cortana compares to Google Voice Search in the comments below!

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"

Its not good…… reads voice wrong and does not work with 99% of commands,
makes it a classic and true to life windows product,
do no bother as google is better
