The OnePlus One was marketed as “The Original Flagship Killer”. That is not exactly true, but the Chinese phone maker was able to capture a portion of the market share with some over the top marketing campaigns, and by striking a deal to use Cyanogen OS as the OEM skin. It also helped that their phone stood toe to toe with the current flagships of the day and was roughly half the price.
OnePlus is looking to capitalize on the success of the One with an all new OnePlus 2 device! This year we will see much of the same in the way of design minus one HUGE change. The main difference here is the inclusion of a physical home button. This will more than likely house the OnePlus 2’s “lightning quick” fingerprint scanner which OnePlus has been hyping for a few weeks now. They have been bold enough to make the claim that the tech is even faster than Iphone’s Touch ID. If it matches the speed of the Galaxy S6 fingerprint scanner I will be happy!
Thanks to Chinese wireless regulator TENAA we now have a full unobstructed view of the final product. They released pictures of the device today. Other than the physical home button we know the device will come with 4GB of ram, a snapdragon 810 processor, and the new USB type-C reversible USB port. The CEO has also confirmed the phone will release at a price under $450. This is shaping up to be quite an exciting device. The OnePlus 2 will be officially announced on July 27th.
