There have been several reports already that LG is planning to release a G Pro 3 later this year, perhaps with an all-metal frame. Another report emerged on Friday morning claiming that LG is disappointed with the G4 sales performance and will release a “super-premium” device later this year to compensate. Korean news outlet ETNews mentions that LG is very disappointed with the volume of G4 sales, despite the rave reviews of many in the tech media community.
LG typically releases the flagship G series device in the first half of the year, with low and mid-range devices later in the 3rd and 4th quarters. It appears the super premium device will be targeted for a launch near the end of the year where it will undoubtedly go up against the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge+, and the Apple iPhone 6S. The ETNews report doesn’t specify exactly what “super premium” means. The G4 is certainly a premium device with flagship specs, but perhaps LG is going to up the ante by adding metal, glass, or other premium materials to this new device. We assume that this super premium device is the rumored G Pro 3 we heard about previously. I hope that LG finally gives us a phablet with a proper digitized stylus like the S-Pen from Samsung. I think LG will have a tough time against the Note 5 and iPhone 6S, but I’m definitely anxious to see what they show us later this year. Let me know what you think about LG’s plan in the comments!
