The OnePlus 2 launch event is about 14 hours away as of this writing, and we know most of the expected specs for the phone at this point. One thing still up in the air is the exact pricing and availability of the device. This morning reports emerged out of China stating that the phone will be made available at the Beijing OnePlus experience store from as early as August 8. The store offers a variety of OnePlus products, including accessories, much like the Apple Store or Samsung experience shops inside Best Buy in the US.
OnePlus is once again utilizing the invite system to allow those interested to purchase the device online. Over the weekend the company opened up a registration list for invites. We found out a bit earlier that the list is actually more hassle than OnePlus let on-you need to share the invite page to keep your spot in line. Hopefully the rumored 30-50x OnePlus One inventory numbers are true and the invite process is not as big of a hassle this time. The OnePlus 2 will be unveiled tonight at 10 PM ET/7 Pacific. Be sure to grab the OnePlus 2 event app, strap it into your cardboard unit and experience the whole thing in VR! I’ll be checking out the event and reporting back on my initial thoughts. Despite my hatred for OnePlus’ terrible PR practices, I’m going to keep an open mind and enjoy the evening. Check back here at HOA all day for more breaking news leading up to the launch event!
