Back at I/O Google told us that they would roll out three preview builds of Android M before the final release makes it way to consumers later this fall. So far Google has made good on the timeline for two of those releases, but it appears the third preview version will not make the original late-July release date. Seeing as today is July 31, the moderator of the Android M Developer Preview community posted an update on their Google+ page, “We want this to be a near final release to test your apps on, but we need a little more time to get it out to you.”
Android M Preview 2 was released earlier this month with some users reporting sync issues with their Google accounts while using the preview build. I have been running the second preview version of M on my Nexus 6 without issue for the entire month of July. It appears that Google wants to iron out any final bugs so that the third release will be very close to the consumer version in October. We still don’t know what the ‘M’ stands for, but there are plenty of sweet guesses out there (Marshmallow, Milk Shake, etc.). Keep checking back here at HOA news for the latest Android M updates, we’ll let you know when Preview 3 is available! Anyone running the second preview still having sync problems?
