Aukey was nice enough to send me 3 of their Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 enabled 2 port car chargers for review. Out of all the car chargers I have used in the past this one has to be my favorite. In the box you get the charger itself, a manual which lays out all the specifics on the actual amperage, voltage, and overall wattage coming out of the individual charge ports, and a high quality micro usb charge cable. I wasn’t actually expecting a charge cable. I have a power brick from Aukey that did not come with a charge cable so it was really a nice added bonus.
The charger has two ports. The first port is a 2.4a at 5v, while the second port is a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 quick charing port. The second port can charge at 5v/2a, 9v/2a, or 12v/1.5a. The top port is not supposed to be a quick charging port however when i was testing the charger I found that no matter which port I plugged into when charging a single device my Galaxy S6 Edge told me I was quick charging and charged my device at the faster rate. I did not test charging two devices at once to see if it would still tell me both ports were quick charging at the same time.
The charger performs very well. I run out of juice everyday around 3-4pm. I don’t normally get off work until about 6-9pm depending on how heavy the work for the day is. I work out of my work truck so having the charger in my work truck means that I can hook up my phone to the charger for about 15-20minutes and get my phone up to a half charge which gets me through the rest of the day and into the evening. With the current series of flagship devices all having mediocre battery life I feel like quick charging is really essential. This charger is currently on sale on Amazon for only $16.99 it regularly goes for $49.99.
