We’ve been intrigued with the Huawei Watch since it was unveiled earlier this year MWC. The watch looks beautiful and is poised to compete with higher end Android Wear offerings like the LG Watch Urbane. Huawei has now posted a splash page for the Huawei Watch where you can sign up for email updates on the device. The splash page also mentions that the launch is officially right around the corner. This isn’t a specific date and time by any means, but it is good news that Huawei hasn’t forgotten about the device. We recently saw some packaging leaks and it looks more like Tissot/Tag Heuer packaging than Moto 360 packaging (no offense to Motorola).

One possibility is that the watch could be unveiled at IFA in early September. Huawei is already expected to announce their next device in the Ascend Mate line, so they could easily bring the watch along as well. It will be interesting to see how Huawei prices their watch. Premium in the Android Wear space is not quite on the Apple Watch level yet, and I’m not sure there is a market for such an expensive Android Wear device. We will definitely continue bringing you all the latest updates on the Huawei Watch and other IFA announcements, stay locked here to HOA. "I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
