Earlier this morning Motorola sent out a tweet with some information we’ve all been eagerly awaiting. The release date for the Moto X Style, errm I mean Pure Edition is now official!

As you can see from the screengrab, it looks like we will be able to order and/or customize the Moto X Pure Edition starting on September 3. What’s unfortunate about this is that Motorola deleted the tweet a short time after, leaving us to wonder what is really going on. They also have deleted their post on Google+ that contained the same content.

The Moto X Pure Edition is the 3rd generation Moto X. It features a 5.7-inch QHD LCD display, Snapdragon 808 processor, 21MP camera, 3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage plus microSD support, 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charging, Lollipop, and front facing stereo speakers. It will also be customizable through Moto Maker with a number of options, including leather and natural backs. The phone will cost $399 unlocked and will be compatible with all four major US carriers-including Sprint and Verizon. Motorola will sell the phone on their website, and through channels like Amazon and Best Buy. This is very similar to the approach ZTE recently took with their Axon Pro release. Hopefully September 3 is the real day and Motorola didn’t troll us all. If this information is correct we only have 3 weeks to wait, who’s on board for a new Moto X Pure Edition?

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
