Everyone has had their panties in a wad over the fact that Motorola released the Moto X Play everywhere except for the US. It is a bummer that we won’t see the Play version here. It has some pretty awesome specs for a budget device. It has a whopping 3650mah battery which should be good for day and a half battery life. It also has a smaller screen and is much lighter than the Moto X. While this looks like an awesome device and it sucks we can’t buy it there may be a very good reason why we won’t see the Moto X Play here in the states.
I had heard some rumors that their would be a reboot of the Motorola Droid Maxx series, but that was not announced along with the other devices. I assumed we wouldn’t be seeing a new Maxx device after all. Phandroid is reporting that the Moto X Play will be rebranded in the US on Verizon exclusively as the Moto Droid Maxx 2. It’s main selling point will be crazy battery life, but it will also feature an “unbreakable” screen. This is due to the use of POLED instead of AMOLED. The POLED uses plastic which is more flexible and less prone to breaking.
We should know more soon!
