Blu Announces Pure XL for $350

The budget smartphone market is booming these days. The OnePlus 2 recently launched for a price of $389. ZTE dropped the Axon Pro for $449 unlocked, and now Blu is bringing us a 6 inch beast of a phone for $350. The device features a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, with 490 ppi. This is a big phone, and we have a relatively large battery as well at 3500mAh battery. The one issue some might have with the device is the processor, an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocking in at 2GHz. We also have 3GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable storage. We also have a nice 24 MP shooter and 8 MP front-facing camera for selfies. Overall, pretty decent camera specs on paper, but it should be interesting to see low-light performance which traditionally suffers on budget devices.

From the image you can also see a fingerprint sensor on the back quite similar to the leaks we have seen from the Huawei and LG Nexus. Blue mentions the device has quick-charge support, but does not detail whether or not the phone will ship with a quick-charge enabled charger. Similar to the Alcatel Idol 3 earlier this year. Blue will offer the Pure XL exclusively on Amazon later this month for $350 completely unlocked. The phone is a bit large for some people. but it offers good value for the money if you’re into that sort of thing.

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
