LG Hosting an event on October 1: New Phone Coming?

LG sent out some media invites this morning, and we’re not 100% sure what to expect. The event will take place October 1 in New York City. We do know that LG has been rumored to release a phone codenamed “V10″, which looks like a slightly larger LG G4 with a secondary ticker display. Evan Blass leaked some of the reported specs for the V10 recently on Twitter: 5.7-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 808 processor, 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, microSD slot, 3GB RAM, 64GB storage, integrated fingerprint scanner, and a secondary display. It seems odd that LG would attempt to release a phone with a ticker display, especially since the Note Edge was not a huge hit for Samsung. Beyond the secondary display, the phone sports the same specs as the G4 excepting only the larger 5.7” screen size.

Other possibilities for the event include a new Android Wear device or tablet. Considering the LG Watch Urbane released earlier this year, it seems unlikely another watch is on the way, but it could happen. I personally love my Urbane so I wouldn’t mind seeing another Android Wear attempt from LG. LG isn’t known for making flagship tablets, but we might see a budget or mid-range offering. Still, it seems a bit unlikely that an entire event would be scheduled for such a tablet. We’ll have all of the coverage of whatever LG announces, so check back here on October 1 to get the details! What do you think LG has planned?

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
