Oppo Announces the R7S-Solid Midranger

Chinese phone manufacturer Oppo has officially announced the R7S this morning after the phone passed through TENAA a few weeks back. The phone will feature the mid-range Snapdragon 615 quad-core processor along with 4GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The screen is 5.5″ with tiny 2.2mm bezels and the phone has a 3,000 mAh battery powering it. Oppo will offer the phone in gold and silver colorways later this year and Android 5.1 with ColorOS 2.1 will be the featured software for this device. In addition to the above features, Oppo mentions the R7S will also feature quick-charging of some type with 5 minutes of charge giving up to 2 hours of talk time.

In my opinion the phone looks really nice, but it is pretty concerning to see a phone announced for “later this year” with no mention of if or when it might receive a Marshmallow update. It probably doesn’t matter what I think of it since this phone will almost certainly not come to the US or feature US compatible bands. There is no pricing or exact availability information just yet, but we”ll bring it to you when we get it! Is Oppo milking the Snapdragon 615 for a bit too long here?
