A few days ago Blackberry prematurely posted a preorder page for the Priv that had everyone up in arms over the listed $749 price point. I personally felt Blackberry was trying to gauge interest in the device at that price, which seems like a good guess since the official preorder page went up with a lower price this morning. Blackberry posted the official preorder page for the Priv with a listed price of $699. That’s still pretty damn expensive, but at least brings it more in line with flagships from Samsung and Apple at the high-end.
The only model currently available is the GSM unlocked variant that will work with both AT&T and T-Mobile, but not with CDMA carriers Sprint and Verizon. The ship date for the devices is currently set at November 6, which Blackberry mentions is the official release date for the device. We expect that Verizon will get a carrier version of the device in the near future, so stay tuned if you’re interested in that.
