Blackberry is scheduled to start shipping preorders of their unlocked Priv preorders on November 9, but if you’re on AT&T and don’t want to shell out $699, you now have other options. This morning AT&T announced that they will be the first carrier in the United States to sell the Priv. The phone will be available in AT&T stores starting this Friday November 6.
The phone will cost $249 on a two year contract, or you can get it on a AT&T Next plan for as low as $24.67 per month. This should allow some to stomach the cost of the Priv a bit easier, but unlocked is really the way to go to avoid bloatware and get expedient updates. As a reminder, key specs of the Priv include a 5.4-inch QHD curved AMOLED display, Snapdragon 808 processor, 18MP camera with OIS, 3410mAh battery, 32GB storage with micro SD slot, QC 2.0, wireless charging, 3GB RAM, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. In addition to that impressive list, you can also choose to use the physical slide-out keyboard for composing those long business emails.
At this point we’re pretty sure that other carriers in the US will get their own variants of this phone, but it looks like AT&T will be first, someone has to be after all. I’ll have my hands on one of these phones in next week one way or the other, so stay tuned to my Youtube channel if you’re interested in the Priv. Did anyone already preorder one?
