When Samsung Pay was originally announced, it was mentioned that the mobile payments platform would eventually support gift cards from several popular retailers. Today gift card support has finally arrived, with 50 retailers officially on board at the launch. In addition to adding gift cards to use on your phone, you can also purchase all of these gift cards from within the Samsung Pay app. Support for even more retailers will follow in the coming months. Some of the notable retailers on board now include Gamestop, eBay, Nike, and ToysRus.
The addition of gift card support makes Samsung Pay even more attractive. In the past few months I’ve stopped using Android Pay and Apple Pay altogether because Samsung offers so many more options with MST technology. If Samsung continues to add features and grow this platform, they have an opportunity to become the biggest and best mobile payments option on a large scale.
If you have recently purchased or plan to purchase a 2015 Samsung flagship, there are still several promotions available to get $50 rebates or $200 credit at Samsung.com for registering Samsung Pay on your phone. Hit up the links below for more details on the gift card compatibility and to check out Samsung’s list of promotions.
