Last month we saw the announcement of two new Xiaomi devices the Redmi Note 3 and Mi Pad 2, but what we really wanted to see announced was the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi5! The phone has been shrouded in secrecy much like the origin story of Rey of Jakku. We don’t know anything officially about this device other than the fact that Xiaomi would rather it release late and perfect than to put out a half baked device. The secret is no longer safe as some promising renders have seemingly emerged.
Leaked renders have arrived by way of the Chinese site Zaeke. A few things that we see from the leaked renders include the world’s smallest finger print scanner, bottom speakers, USB Type-C charge port, and of course the metal frame we have been expecting. The fingerprint scanner is on the front of the device below the display. It appears to double as a home button.
The source who leaked the images also included a full list of specs for the Mi5. The phone should include a 5.2″ display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 16mp rear facing camera, 13mp front facing camera, 3600mah battery, Android 6.0 with the MiUI 7 overlay. We expect to see two variants of the device to include a premium version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Another less expensive version will include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Prices will be $355 and $309 respectively.
