Earlier this week we told you that LG is readying an incredibly impressive upgrade from the G4 to the G5. The phone will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 820, all metal build, and a slide out compartment for a removable battery. One thing we weren’t sure about is whether the press invites LG sent out for February 21 would mark the unveiling of the G5. Over the past few years LG has delayed their G series launch well into April or May to avoid competing directly with Samsung. It appears this year all of that will change. This morning an LG executive speaking to Korea Times mentioned that the company is now ready to take on Samsung in head to head competition in 2016.
If this report is correct, we should be in for an action-packed slate of announcements in Barcelona for MWC. Samsung is definitely preparing to bring their best effort on the S7, with rumors of water resistance, expandable storage. and a f1.7 camera being added to the beautiful build of the Galaxy S6. With LG and Samsung both bringing impressive smartphones to MWC the result will be a very entertaining show and competition that can only lead to better products for the consumer. We will continue to bring you all of the latest LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 rumors, so keep it locked here at HOA!
