Thus far we’ve seen official media invites go out from Sony and LG for Mobile World Congress 2016, and we expect that Samsung won’t be far behind. Many people have questioned whether or not HTC will also make their usual flagship announcement at the show in Barcelona. According to information from LlabTooFeR on Twitter, HTC has plans to hold a separate event this year to unveil their flagship M10 smartphone. In addition to the event information, the tweet also mentions that the phone will launch with Android 6.0.1 and Sense 8.0 on board and come in two hardware variants, one with the Snapdragon 820 another with a Mediatek variant.
I'm expecting 2 versions of the device: Qualcomm 820 (for EU and US markets) and MTK based (Mainly for China and South-East Asia)…

At this point we don’t have a lot of information or even leaks to go on when it comes to the M10. We know the code name is Perfume, and now we know HTC plans to hold an event separate from MWC to unveil the phone. I think the idea of unveiling apart from MWC is a good one. HTC cannot compete with LG and Samsung in terms of marketing and releasing the M10 side by side with the LG G5 and Galaxy S7 would be fairly detrimental to sales numbers in my opinion. We should certainly see more leaks as we get closer to the unveil, which shouldn’t be too long after MWC ends.
