Battery Life Troubles on the Galaxy S6? Samsung has a fix! (Maybe)

Samsung has rolled out an update to its Samsung Push Service app this morning on Google Play. The app itself is responsible for handling the notification service for Samsung only services. What is more interesting about this update in the Play Store is the language detailing whats new in the update. In particular any S6 owner should be interested to know that the update includes, “patches for reduce data usage and power consumption.” I don’t know about everyone else, but I’ve had some pretty mixed results with my S6 and S6 Edge battery life. Some days the battery life is great and other days its actually pretty terrible. I hope that if the update doesn’t improve things drastically it at least makes power consumption more uniform, as long as it isn’t uniformly terrible!

The update should be waiting for you on Google Play if you have a S6 or S6 Edge. I found the update waiting on both my T-Mobile S6 and Verizon S6 Edge. So far the update seems to be helping the massive battery drain I’ve been experiencing on my S6 this morning (down 20% in like 2 hours from doing nothing on the phone while I was lecturing). Obviously there is no way to say for sure if the update is really helping until we’ve had it for a few days.  Let us know if you are experiencing any improvements with the update!

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
