T-Mobile LG G4 Getting Mandatory Software Update

Yesterday there were several reports that the AT&T flavor of the G4 was receiving a mandatory software update. Several users reported that the software update began downloading without their approval. It appears T-Mobile’s version of the G4 is seeing a similar update today. Many users across the internet are reporting that their T-Mobile G4 received a software update bumping them from software version H81110D to H81110H. I checked my own T-Mobile G4 for the update and have not received it yet, my phone is still currently running the 10D software.

The update is a decent size at 174.1 MB, and we’re not sure exactly what issues were fixed by this update or the AT&T update yesterday. T-Mobile’s official release on the update only says that it “improves software stability”, which you know, could mean absolutely anything. The update should be rolling out from today, but prepare to wait a few days as usual. To check which version you’re on just head to “System Settings”=> “About Phone” => “Software Update.” Let us know in the comments if you’ve received the update and experienced any significant changes in usability.

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
