OnePlus 2 shipments to North America are delayed

The OnePlus 2 will officially be available for purchase August 11, that happens to be tomorrow for those keeping track. Several of us here at HOA were pretty excited to place our order tomorrow. Unfortunately, OnePlus has announced that shipments of the new phone to the US and Canada will be delayed. It seems that the company is producing and shipping units to Europe first, and then the US and Canada will receive shipments in 2-3 weeks. As usual, OnePlus offered no reasonable explanation for the delay, only citing “production schedules”.

I was really excited that I was able to get an early invite. I was actually back on board with giving the OnePlus 2 a chance. Now this happens. OnePlus promises that everyone in North America can still order their phone tomorrow, but won’t receive the handset for 2-3 weeks, awesome! It seems those of us lucky enough to get an early invite will be left with nothing but more anticipation for a few more weeks. This entire debacle makes me wonder just how many units OnePlus produced before opening up the reservation list. Perhaps they waited until the demand was clear to ramp up production for certain markets? I guess we’ll never know. Anyone have an invite tomorrow? Willing to order and wait 2-3 more weeks while several stellar phones launch in the meantime? Sound off in the comments!

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
