New clear images of Blackberry Venice surface online

The Blackberry Android slider codenamed Venice has leaked quite a bit in the past month. When we first heard about this device at the beginning of summer I was skeptical, but this is looking incredibly real now. First leaked fully by Evan Blass, the Venice runs a customized version of Android Lollipop with some Blackberry 10 accents. What really makes the phone stand out is the slide out QWERTY keyboard. We don’t have any confirmed internal specs yet but the device actually looks pretty nice in these recent pictures. Rumors have suggested the internals might include a Snapdragon 808, 5.4-Inch display, 3GB of RAM. These photos also show up a 18 MP rear camera and 5 MP front shooter for selfies.

I’m still unsure if there is enough demand for a slider Android x Blackberry hybrid in 2015. The question is whether Blackberry fans are willing to try an Android based phone and whether any Android fans will give Blackberry a go. I certainly see the benefit of a physical keyboard for long emails and text, but I don’t find typing on screen difficult with modern keyboard software like Swype and Swiftkey. There is a good possibility that Blackberry can bring added security to Android for enterprise applications, which would be awesome. Anyone interested in picking up this phone after seeing the new pics? We expect a launch sometime around November.

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
