Verizon Will Officially Support Samsung Pay

A few weeks ago we brought you a statement from a Samsung executive that Verizon would soon support Samsung Pay through a future software update. Today Verizon has officially confirmed that statement. The Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, and Note 5 will all receive the software update to enable both NFC and MST payments with Samsung Pay. This is great news to me and undoubtedly many others who were left out of the Samsung Pay launch party by Verizon a few weeks back.

One thing we don’t know is exactly when Verizon plans to push this update out. The worse news is that the Samsung Pay free accessory offer expires on October 11 on midnight. Who know if Verizon will push this out within the next week. If they don’t Verizon customers may miss out on their free case or wireless charger. I can’t be too mad since I received one already with my Edge+ on AT&T, but I feel for customers whose only device is with Verizon. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on availability of this software update so keep it locked here!

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
