HTC Posts Teaser for new ‘One’ Phone Announcement in NYC

HTC currently has an event scheduled for October 20 in NYC to launch the new One A9 smartphone. We’ve previously brought you several leaks for this phone and pointed out that it may or may not look like an iPhone 6. We also pointed out, for the record, that Apple may or may not have stolen the iPhone 6 design from the HTC One M7, but I digress.

This morning HTC hit up Twitter to build up anticipating for their event with a new teaser video. It is pretty short at only 15 seconds, and is pretty damn abstract as well. The video shows off some pretty scenery and rocks and stuff. Overall there aren’t many hints in here that suggest what is going on with the A9, but we think we know that it will be a more midrange phone than the M9. HTC also mentioned on their website that they will partner with Tidal to celebrate the event:

Those who appreciate great music know greatness when they hear it. That’s why it only makes sense to partner with Tidal to celebrate the launch of our newest device for an event unlike anything that’s ever rocked the Barclays Center.

We’ll definitely keep you updated on what HTC discusses at their event next week. You can tune into the event via the livestream on HTC’s website if you want to follow along for yourself. What do we think about HTC’s latest efforts? Is the company doomed to Android mediocrity?

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
