Blackberry Reportedly Developing Another Android Phone!

HOA Weekly Wrap: HTC Needs “Uh Oh” Protection+Priv Thoughts

The Blackberry Priv has been available for purchase in the US for one week now, and already there are rumors that Blackberry has another Android phone in development. Thus far the Priv has seen fairly impressive sales, with pre-orders from Blackberry’s official website being delay due to reportedly high demand. Amazon also sold out of their initial stock within the first hour of putting the phone up for sale.

According to Crackberry, the next Android phone from Blackberry has code name Vienna, and will stick much closer to the classic Blackberry phone appearance. First and foremost, this means there will be no slide-out keyboard, just a physical keyboard that is always there. The renders appear to show a rather large display, but it will obviously be smaller than what is on the Priv, otherwise the phone would be impossible to pocket. These are fairly early pictures of a rumored device, so probably take this with a grain of salt for now. I would certainly expect Blackberry to churn out more Android devices if the Priv succeeds, but the final design of the Vienna may change a bit before launch.

I’m personally enjoying the Priv quite a bit, but the slide-out physical keyboard is the maximum amount of physical keyboard I can handle. I don’t think I’d enjoy having a keyboard taking up potential screen real estate 24/7. Let me know what you guys think about these renders in the comments!

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
