Official CyanogenMod 13 Released For The Nexus 7 2013

One reason I always encourage people to stay high on android, buying rootable and bootloader unlockable devices is because the development community continues to update devices even after OEMs have end of lifed them. The Nexus 7 is still supported by Google, but it won’t be long until we see updates slow down on this device. If you prefer a customizable user experience you will be happy to know that CyanogenMod 13 has been officially released for the Nexus 7!

CyanogenMod 13 is available for both the wifi and LTE variants of the device. This is the third Nexus device following the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P to receive official CM 13 support. Of course this brings a customized, optimized build of Marshmallow to your Nexus 7. This also gives you several custom options including nav bar and notification bar options.

You will need to be bootloader unlocked and have a custom recovery installed to your device to flash CyanogenMod 13 to the Nexus 7. You will also need to be certain to download and flash the Gapps package. If you forget to flash Gapps you won’t be able to access the Play Store or any Google services. This build is official and as such all functions should be working well enough for this to be a daily driver rom for you. Keep in mind their may be a few bugs since this is a nightly build and not a snapshot build. You may want to make a full nandroid backup prior to installing this rom.
