HTC Next Flagship Will Reportedly Feature Android 6.1

We’re at the end of 2015, and while that means everyone is rolling out best of 2015 lists, it also means we start hearing rumors about the flagships for Q1 and Q2 of 2016. We previously heard rumors that the next HTC flagships would have a larger display and have a codename of O2, but today we’re getting some new information. According to LlabTooFeR, HTC’s next flagship is now codenamed Perfume and will feature Android 6.1 with Sense 8.0 out of the box.

The rumored specs for O2 were a 6 inch screen, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM and a 3,500mAh battery. If the O2 is now Perfume, we can probably expect pretty similar specs. I doubt we will see this device until Mobile World Congress, especially since Android 6.1 likely won’t arrive for a few more months. I really enjoyed the HTC One Max, but it suffered from a crippling set of mediocre internals. If HTC does indeed release a phablet, I’ll be very intrigued. Hopefully HTC really brings it in 2016 so I don’t have to feel bad defending them anymore. Who else is looking forward to seeing what HTC has in store for 2016?

I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When I’m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
