Last week Xiaomi had a press event where they were expected to announce the Xiaomi Mi5 which is expected to be the very first device to release with a Qualc0mm Snapdragon 820 processor. Instead of announcing the Mi5 they announced the Redmi Note 3, the MiPad 2, and told us the Mi5 would be worth the wait. We may not have to wait long for the announcement and thanks to some leaks we have some pretty good info on what we can expect with this device. Until now all we have had were a bunch of renders.
In the leaked images we really can’t tell much about the final design of the device. There is a home button cutout which matches recent speculation that the device will come with a home button and fingerprint scanner. The source is stating that the device will be rocking a 5″ 1080p display which is kind of disappointing. We have been expecting a 5.2″ QHD display.
We also expect to see the Snapdragon 820, 4GB of Ram, 64GB of storage, 16mp rear camera, and 8mp front facing camera, USB Type-C port, and the latest version of MIUI over Android 5.1.1. This is supposed to be the first premium design for a Mi series device so we should have a metal frame and some Gorilla Glass. The announcement should be coming in the next few weeks so we will have more info on this soon. Hopefully Xiaomi will be able to keep a pretty low price with all the expected pro specs.
