HTC One M9 Receiving Marshmallow, A9 getting 6.0.1

HTC made quite a number of lofty promises when they launched the One A9. One of the biggest promises was that the A9 would receive Android system updates a short time after Google pushes them for Nexus devices. HTC’s Mo Versi announced that the HTC One M9 will begin receiving Marshmallow in the next 24 hours, and the One A9 will receive 6.0.1 in the same time frame.

Of course, the updates only apply to the unlocked variants of both phones bought directly from HTC. It appears that the M9 Developer Edition will also be receiving the 6.0 update. The M9 will receive all of the exciting Marshmallow improvements such as Doze, better RAM management, and of course Google Now On Tap. The 6.0.1 update for the A9 will bring all of the new emoji the Nexus devices received, and some stability tweaks.

If you have either of these devices be sure to check your update screen, I haven’t received anything just yet on my A9. HTC keeping their update promise is definitely a nice holiday gift to loyal users!

"I am currently a researcher and Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I fell in love with Android with the Nexus One release and realized that it was superior to iOS in all the ways I care about. I still use a Mac (and an iPhone for the camera), but my Apple tech products pale in comparison to my number of Android devices (watches, tablets, and phones). When Iā€™m not rooting/modding one of my many Android phones or doing math/programming, you can find me taking in Phoenix Suns/Arizona Diamondbacks games in downtown Phoenix, and drinking good beer!"
