Galaxy Note 6 will be called Galaxy Note 7!

There are confirmed reports that Samsung will skip naming of Galaxy Note 6 and instead name it Galaxy Note 7.

While most experts think this is to match iPhone 7’s launch, it may also be due to the fact that Galaxy series always have had a name mis-match.  For example, Galaxy S6 comes out then Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S5 comes out then Galaxy Note 4.  While both pairs are released in the same year, it certainly is confusing to consumers.

With the new naming scheme, it’s going to make it easier for consumers to actually identify which year the Galaxy phone is from.  So when Galaxy Note 7 is launched, you will know both Galaxy S7 and Note 7 have been launched in year 2016.

What do you think?  Useful or just another marketing tactic by Samsung to compete against Apple?

I believe this is a marketing tactic, although a good one. Personally, I don’t think the naming scheme for both the S and Note series to be difficult to understand.
